Medical Tourism & Comparison Pricing
You finally made up your mind about the surgery and where to do
it! Whether it’s an in grown toenail or bypass surgery, If it’s
going to be in Thailand we can help.
If it was up to me I would have it in my hometown, unfortunately
in today’s world it’s not our choice anymore. Growing healthcare
costs and insurance rates have changed everything in the last
forty years. I know even with the insurance I have I would still
have to pay around forty five thousand dollars for bypass
surgery. This is crazy! But this is the way it is. Where does
Health Abroad come in? We are the “hand to hold“, the “good
friend to take along”. Having surgery on the other side of the
world is scary. We know it. And we can help. We make your time
in Thailand as comfortable as possible, when you arrive at your
condo you can shower relax and have a massage. You are allowed a
foot massage, body massage or a facial every day! Free! Two
meals a day are included. We have a vehicle and driver at your
disposal. We take you on your tours, help you shop, show you the
really good restaurants, translate, and…. We know places that
most tourists never get to see! The best part is that we pretty
much pay for ourselves!
Remember, Thailand is basically a very benign, friendly country.
But… this is not to say all the Thai people are on your side.
They might not hold a gun on you but they will attempt to
convince you that it really is a Rolex for $150.00. If you
compare what you would pay on your own for accommodations food
and taxis, I believe you cannot compare the value you get from
Health-Abroad to what you would pay on your own.
So, where do we go now? I know if I needed any kind of medical
procedure I would be scared. Never mind going to the other side
of the planet! Well this is where we come in. Our basic service
is not to do the procedure, not to recommend where, which
hospital, or even if you need it at all! All of that homework
we leave to you. Hopefully by the time your reading this you
have picked out your doctor and hospital. What we provide is
what no one else does, we try to get you over your fear of being
overseas. We have conveniently located our condos in the heart
of Bangkok’s shopping district and midway between the most
popular hospitals. Our services are unlike any I have seen.
Sure, many concierge services can pick you up at the airport.
(we call them taxis). On arriving at the Bangkok airport we will
get your bags, guide you through immigration and customs,
provide a wheelchair if you need one and take you to your
private condominium. There you can shower and enjoy a full body
oil massage. At this point most people want to take a nap and
relax after a long journey. But if you are hungry, let’s eat. It
doesn’t matter if it’s 2 am! Your escort in Thailand is an
American, born in New York so his English is not too bad. This
is much different then a local who speaks English. The culture
of Thailand is wonderful, but just as Thai would feel more
comfortable with a Thai person on a visit to Chicago, we
naturally are more at ease with our own. In the morning you can
enjoy a cup of Maxwell House coffee made in a Mr. Coffee coffee
maker, this familiarity makes a difference to me! The breakfast
everyday is on us and I am sure you will be delighted! It is a
large buffet with all American foods such as eggs, ham, bacon,
omelets etc but also juices, English breakfasts, Chinese and
Japanese breakfasts and just about anything you can imagine!
This is certainly not a “continental” breakfast! For your first
night in Bangkok I suggest something slow and easy, a little
romantic and one of the most relaxing things you’ll ever
experience. A antique teak boat ride down the Choapya River. I
have traveled on many, many rivers of the world but none are as
beautiful as this one. On the ride you will get to enjoy
original Thai cuisine, as well as Thai music and dances
performed by performers in original Thai costumes. Along the way
the sights of Bangkok will unfold before you, great ancient
temples, the Royal barges, a Chinese temple, churches and the
beautiful Bangkok riverfront. This is one of the most memorable
dinner cruises you will take in your lifetime.
You will be given a cell phone on your arrival and be encouraged
to call home and assure your loved ones “all is well”. Depending
when your procedure is scheduled, tours to the Rose Garden, the
bridge on the river Kwai, the floating market etc can be
arranged. From your condo you can walk to Louis Viutton, Pravda,
Burberry, Cartier, how about a Bentley dealership? I have no
idea how many stores are in the general area, but there are 1500
next to the condominium, the are seven malls you can walk to,
you can’t walk back with all those packages though! While in
Bangkok I encourage people to take advantage of the Indian
tailor shops who will custom make you suits, shirts, skirts etc
at a fraction of the price you would pay in the US. I have a
tailor I use and this is an integral part of our service. We
know through experience who are the best and also most
trustworthy merchants. Whatever you pay in fees to Health Abroad
usually are made up for in discounts and quality services you
would not find on your own. Many years of mistakes, hunting down
the best (and worst) restaurants, finding the best merchants etc
we are certain we pay for our services in saving our clients
needless headaches and expenses.
After your procedure, it is all up to you! Do you want to relax
in the cool mountain air of Chaing Mai or the lay along the
coast of Koh Samui? Or Phuket. (the movie “The Beach”) Of
course elephant treking may not be suitable on this trip if you
just had hip replacement, but there are many other things to see
and do if you know where to look. There are many festivals only
seen in Thailand, in the spring many countries come to the
northeast to compete in a rocket competition, every November
over 300 elephants compete in various sports in Surin. A side
trip to world heritage site Angor Wat in Cambodia is thrilling,
all of these adventures can be had without hesitation since you
have a friend with you! Someone you can speak the lingo (that’s
how you get the bargains!) Someone who knows what, when and
where to eat.
For more than a medical procedure, for more than an exotic
vacation, for something beyond your wildest dreams…. Call
Health-Abroad!
